Great kid carrier for the hiking fanatic
I was on the search for a baby carrier that could stand up to the use I would put it through. I hike almost daily and I love to spend hours finding new trails and exploring them. This carrier makes it easy to do that with my son. He loves coming along with me on these trips and I love being able to have this time to bond with him without toys, television, or the internet to distract us! Before getting this I tried to use a regular baby carrier but unfortunately it didn’t work for what I needed it to do. My son did not like being carried on my back in that carrier because he couldn’t see anything that I tried to show him and I didn’t like having him on my front because I couldn’t watch my feet when I needed to and I was worried I would trip. With this carrier he can see right over my head which solves both of the problems for us! My husband still likes to use the other baby carrier for shopping trips or things like that but I much prefer this one.
A super comfortable carrier
I love how comfortable this carrier is. When you first see it, it looks a little daunting and I had my doubts about it I’m not going to lie. It actually distributes the weight evenly over the span of your entire back which means that you aren’t going to have any strains or sore spots! I have not had any complaints from my little man about it either so I assume it is comfortable for him as well. It has a large sunshade on it too which means that we can be out in the summer heat and he can stay relatively cool and not get a sunburn! The adjustments and overall setup of this carrier is surprisingly easily. By the way that it looks I kind of assumed that it was going to be a ridiculously complicated task that would take a half an hour at least but it has far exceeded my expectations.
A couple of flaws in the Kelty Pathfinder
I wish that this carrier had a footrest. It has no place that my son can rest his feet which can be a little bit uncomfortable and unsettling because they are just left dangling. This isn’t a deal breaker but I feel like it would be a great addition to this carrier. I wish that the water bottle holder was in a different place too. The placement it is in on this carrier can tend to get in the way and be more of a nuisance than anything. I would much rather it was on the main part of the backpack. My last complaint was that there is not any sort of support for the child’s head if he falls asleep. This means that they will often wake up with a stiff neck and a sore back. A head support would be an amazing addition as well as the footrest.
The Pathfinder is the best carrier for an outdoorsman
This is honestly the best baby carrier that I have seen for the price. It offers some really great features and does a great job of what I use it for. Even though I would like to see them add a few more things and there are things I would change, I still think that this is a really great product and is a must-have for the outdoors-loving parent. I would definitely repurchase if need be and I highly recommend this carrier!
