The Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Monitor is the first baby monitor with interchangeable lens technology. Three separate lens types normal, wide angle (sold separately) and zoom allow you to choose the most suitable focal length and viewing angle for the specific environment, just like a professional camera system. Video is streamed in real-time to a compact 3-1/2 in. LCD color display providing a crystal clear image. The DXR-8 is packed with a roster of advanced features for added convenience including remote camera pan/tilt, infrared night vision, talk-back function, room temperature sensor and more.
I have this monitor in my son’s nursery and I love it. The video is very clear and there is no lag The sound is nice and crisp and I also like the fact that I can choose what lense I want to use. The range is really good and it doesn’t cut out no matter where I go in the house and the large display makes it easy to look at without straining your eyes too much. There is absolutely no sound when the camera moves unlike other monitors that make a loud scratching or creak which I love because the other ones tend to wake my baby up.
The shortcut button can either be set as volume or brightness so whatever you change the most can be easily accessed. For me that’s the brightness so I can see clearly even if the sun goes behind a cloud or it starts getting dark. The monitor also displays the temperature of the room so I can see if the room is too warm or too cold which I think is a handy feature to have.
The monitor is a bit bulky. I thought this would be a big problem for me especially when carrying it around but it hasn’t been as inconvenient as I thought it would be. I do with is was slimmer but I can work with it being this bulky when I get all the other features I love. It also dies quickly and needs to be charged after only a couple uses. Again, I feel like this has to do with the features and how well this works so I don’t really mind having to plug it in a little more often.
Overall, I think that this is one of the better options out there. It goes above and beyond what is necessary and also has convenient features that make this monitor the clear choice for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good quality baby monitor.
